If you have a question that is not answered here, or if you experience any problems while using Battle Angel, try posting a message on the help board at [TheUnknown] Homepage http://users.leading.net/~kirkland or send an email to jellowe@pirch.vortecirc.com.
1. Installation
b. Will Battle Angel overwrite any of my original files? To install Battle Angel, simply unzip battle.zip into a temporary directory and run the installation program. You will be preompted to enter a directory where you want the script to be installed. You can choose any directory. Also you must copy Pirch98.exe and p98.logo into this new directory.
c. Will Battle Angel work with previous versions of Pirch?Only if you choose to install Battle Angel into a directory that already contains Pirch. If you are a newbie, or prefer to be on the safe side, try installing Pirch98 from scratch into a new directory (like c:\battle) then install the script into the new directory.
d. Where can I get Battle Angel?Yes, but the script's abilities will be severely limited. There have been numerous additions to Pirch and PIL, and Battle Angel takes advantage of these new additions. In fact, a lot of Battle Angel's main PILs will not even compile on a previous version of Pirch!
You can get Battle Angel at http://pirch.vortecirc.com or http://pirch.simplenet.com/index.shtml.
b. Can I use NukeNabber with Battle Angel? The Setup pil is not yet available, but everything in the script is switchable from the popup menus. During initial run of Battle Angel, you will be prompted for any information the script needs.
Battle Angel is equipped with NukeNabber v2.9 support. The first time you run the script, Battle Angel will check to see if you have nukenabber already installed on your system. You may enter the directory to nn2.9 if setup doesn't find it. If you choose to enable NukeNabber v2.9 support, NukeNabber will be loaded each time you start Battle Angel.
Version 2.9 has a new feature which establishes a DDE link with Pirch, so that if the nuker is in your channel, they will automatically be kick/banned. 2.9 is the ONLY version of NukeNabber that will work with Pirch98. However, if you have a previous version, it can still be used.
b. Where is all the war stuff? The screen flickers because the main toolbar has been totally replaced. Pirch98 has to load this new improved menu, and it takes a little more time, thus, flicker.
c. When I open the web browser, it doesn't work. It's just a blank window. The war features have been painstakingly incorporated into the script itself. For example, the DCC Kill popup is in the same section as the normal DCC Send popup. The wingate scanner and the port scanner are located in the main toolbar in the Tools section. etc etc.
d. How can Battle Angel Protect me from flooders, nukers, etc.?The web browser feature will only work if you have Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher already installed on your system. You can download IE4 from http://www.microsoft.com
e. What is all that stuff in Pirch's title bar?CTCP flood control is automatic. When someone sends multiple CTCP requests to you too quickly in an attempt to flood you, Battle Angel will display a warning so you know who's doing the flooding, if the person is in your channel and you have ops, they will be kick/banned. The person will automatically be put on your ignore list (you have an option to un-ignore them), and added to the Dumb-Ass list. Pirch will no longer respond to any of the person's CTCP requests.
Text flood control, like color floods and tsunami floods, is automatic. The same thing will happen to them as described above.
Battle Angel will protect your channel from server op hacks but only if you are an op in the channel.
Part/Join flood protection is automatic (again, only if you have ops). The person will be kick/banned. This is also useful if you don't like flyby's (people who join the channel then immediately part without saying a word).
In the event of clones joining the channel, they will be kick/banned if you have ops. You will always be alerted in an event of clones.
f. How do I load clones onto the server? The first section from the left gives you the time and date. The second section is a lagmeter. A lagmeter tells you how much the server you are on is "lagged". If you find the ping time is at a constant 10 seconds, try switching to another server on the same network. The last section is an "Online Timer" that tells you how long you've been on IRC, in the format hours:minutes:seconds.
g. Can I change my level of CTCP Flood protection? You can load, kill, exit clones from Pirch's main toolbar under the "Clones" menu. You will be asked how many clones you want to load.
h. What kind of war features does Battle Angel use?Yes. From Pirch's main toolbar under the "Options" section, or from the server or channel window popups under the "CTCP" section, you can change the CTCP Ignore time. To check the level of protection you have, select "Check Level" from the same section.
i. Can I read and send email with this script?Battle Angel uses many kinds of war features.
Channel Control - features takeover and masskick/ban scripts
Floods - floods to really annoy people, clone, invite, color
Nukes - features Vai-te Já ICMP Toolkit, Assault and Click by Rhad, mIRC 5.x ident exploit ($bug$), Global kos port flooder, DCC Exploiter, Unix Flash, FloodBots v2.0, SNuke, Port Bomber
Kills - DCC Kills, backdoors, client kills, bot kills, flashes
j. How do I use the Media Manager?Battle Angel comes equipped with an emailer and an email reader. From the "Utils" section of the channel or server window popups, select Pirch Mail.
k. How do I use the file server? You can open the Media Manager manually or it will open on it's own (if you have Sound Events enabled) when someone plays a sound that you do not have. You can then request a file by selecting it from the list and clicking "Request". The default request format it Pirch, although you can change it to mIRC. You can clear the list, and you can save the list (if you close the window while the list still has entries).
l. When I try to use one of the war tools, I get a message saying "Required file CYGWIN.DLL was not found."You don't. Other people use your file server. I use spanner's FileServ PiL. It's simple. You set the send/get ratio (default is 3 (user uploads one file, can get up to three files in return), set the directory, and set default credits. Everything else is handled just like a regular Pirch FileServ, the additional features are handled automatically.
m. When I use the FloodBots GUI, the program just says "Sleeping..."There are a few places where you can find this file. It was not included with the distribution because some people already have this file on their system. You can get this file from http://www.hackersclub.com/km/ from the Tools section, or you can email me and I will send it to you.
n. The [getops] pil gives me Ops in a channel, the Op panel doesn't show.It says "Sleeping" because it is waiting to make sure that all the bots are connected before they start flooding. You can change the delay time by changing "Delay" for 120 to about 60.
There is no workaround for this. If you want the ops panel you will have to part the channel then join again.
